PT Saka Energi Indonesia (PGN Saka), an upstream oil and gas company and an affiliate of Pertamina’s PGN Gas Subholding, possesses technology to monitor and oversee oil and gas production activities in the Pangkah Working Area (WK Pangkah), East Java. This technology is Digital Twin, a technology for visualizing and collecting real-time data through remote monitoring. This technology is also a digital replica of PGN Saka’s oil and gas production facilities that can facilitate the oil and gas production process.
“This technology connects 3-Dimensional models with other supporting data, such as engineering data and maintenance data. So it is like having a single platform complete with 3D visualization that is connected to supporting data for our daily operational activities,” said Yudi Syahnur, Information Management Specialist at PGN Saka, during the 2024 IPA Convention & Exhibition at ICE BSD (15/05).
Not only that, this year PGN Saka will focus on data integration by gathering several supporting data sets, such as maintenance data and engineering data. With this data integration, cross-departmental collaboration can be enhanced by knowing specific needs that mutually involve one another.
“The information is recorded and integrated within the Enterprise Resource Planning application as well as the Electronic Document Management System. This certainly relies on a strong database backing this application. So the PGN Saka team, especially the field team, has worked hard to gather all this data, which will be connected into a centralized database,” added Yudi.
Digital Twin technology will provide added value to the company’s business processes. Particularly in terms of work effectiveness and efficiency by minimizing potential reworks, helping improve HSSE performance, and reducing the frequency of non-urgent field visits.
