Saka Indonesia Pangkah Limited (PGN Saka), as an affiliate of Pertamina’s PGN Gas Subholding, participated in the Gas Subholding Continuous Improvement Program (CIP) event, successfully achieved a GOLD rating in 2023, and advanced to the 2024 Annual Pertamina Quality (APQ) Awards. The submitted innovation involves the optimization of LPG production through the Installation of an LPG Plant Recycle Line in the LPG Processing Facility Area located at the Onshore Processing Facility (OPF) Gresik. PGN Saka was selected as one of the representatives/finalists from the Gas Subholding advancing to this year’s APQ Award.
The APQ Award, held on June 07, 2024, at Grha Pertamina, was attended directly by the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Nicke Widyawati. She expressed appreciation to all Officers who contributed and innovated in this event while supporting Net Zero Emission 2060. SAKA management representatives in attendance included Mrs. Fuji Koesumadewi as Exploration and Development Director. Meanwhile, the Saka Officers who initiated the innovation were the SIPLAH team: Sulistyo Handoko, Indra Gunawan, Ifani Ramadhani, Prasojo, Lusia Pratiwi, Adhi Kurniawan, Hannan Fathoni, and Herman Pranata.
The long process undertaken by Team SIPLAH began with the innovation selection process at the 2023 CIP held by PGN, where they successfully achieved a GOLD rating. As a result of this achievement, they were selected to participate in the 2024 APQ Award. The background of this innovation stemmed from 2023, when offshore gas production was projected to decline below the LPG plant’s turndown rate of 20 MMSCFD, potentially leading to a Loss of Production Opportunity (LPO) due to the LPG Plant halting operations. Following discussions between the operation and facilities engineering teams, process simulations and pipe hydraulic calculations were conducted prior to the fabrication and installation of the recycle line. The recycle line initiative, executed without a rental compressor, was carried out by modifying existing pipelines and raising the operational pressure setting of the sales gas pipeline to flow recycled gas to the LPGF upstream, thereby increasing the gas volume processed at the LPGF so it could continue operating at low produced gas flowrates.
This innovation by Team SIPLAH has the potential to keep the LPG plant operational while also increasing LPG recovery, impacting company LPG production with an investment value of 12,128 USD and potential to increase Company LPG revenue by 21,601 USD/day.
